Rheumatoid Arthritis

It is a chronic (Long lasting) disease causing joint pain. Swelling and limitation of joint movement. Patient feel stiffness in joints more in morning hour. If does not treated properly, disease may lead to deformities of finger and affect internal organ of body.

Osteoarthritis (OA)

It is most common form of arthritis often due to ageing. This is due to break down of cartilage covering the bone ends. In Osteoarthritis of knee there occur pain during walking, climbing up or down of stairs, Standing from sitting position. In OA of hip pain occur in front of high to knee during walking. In OA of hand it become very difficult to hold object in hand and finger pain occur during holding objects.

What is ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)

It is a uncommon form of arthritis causing back pain (hip) neck pain and stiffness. Young male commonly affected, it is generally associated with HLAB27 genetic marker. Beside Joint pain some time eyes are also affected. If not treated in early stage it may lead bending of spine.

Why joint pain affected me?

Most of the time there are no obvious cause for joint pain other than autoimmune disorder. Some times it is due to infection with virus or bacteria or degeneration of joints or crystal deposition is the joint or trauma.

What diet I should take to prevent Arthritis?

As such there is no relation of food and arthritis. However certain food may cause allergic synovitis/Arthritis. High protein diet may precipitates gouty arthritis.

Whom should I consult for joint pain?

For any type of joint pain you should consult nearest Rheumatologist so that earliest treatment can be started.

What is JRA?

JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis) affecting children below 16 years of age. Lower limb joints are commonly affected. It may be associated with fever redness in eye and enlargement of liver or spleen.

Whether physiotherapy help me?

Physiotherapy help in preventing deformities due to arthritis and strengthening muscle of affected joint, some time it help in reducing joint pain.

Precaution

Don't neglect your joints pain, any pain persisting more than two weeks-consult doctor. Don't hide any thing from your doctor and cooperate him. If you are overweight then try to reduce weight. Take medicine as per advice of your doctor.

Drugs

Drugs used for arthritis are mostly pain killer and some times immuno suppressive or steroid group. If you are taking drugs for long time then get your blood checked up for liver and kidney functions test regularly beside routine test.
